{"id":866,"date":"2010-12-27T03:47:16","date_gmt":"2010-12-27T10:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/?p=866"},"modified":"2013-12-28T15:06:03","modified_gmt":"2013-12-28T22:06:03","slug":"rise-clinic-02-clinician-models","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/?p=866","title":{"rendered":"The Rise of the Clinic 02 &#8211; Clinician Models."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/auge_de_la_clinica_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-289\" title=\"El Auge de la Cl\u00ednica 02\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/auge_de_la_clinica_02-300x112.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/auge_de_la_clinica_02-300x112.jpg 300w, https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/auge_de_la_clinica_02.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This article was written in the context<br \/>\nof\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/?page_id=281\">SPARRING TOUR 2009<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\n[<a href=\"https:\/\/curatoriaforense.net\/niued\/?p=288\">versi\u00f3n en espa\u00f1ol<\/a>]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nUnlike\u00a0cartographic maps, mind ones act on field by metaphorizing its\u00a0objects.\u00a0Not only they nominate, set limits and establish\u00a0relative positions, but also -and more importantly- they give\u00a0significance to the point that they point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is the reason, why I like to use, as areas\u00b4s names, references\u00a0to stories (or groups of them) so as to act as a narrative context\u00a0for the name.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I\u00a0firmly believe that a map should be simple to read at first sight,\u00a0but it should not be exhausted in the organization of its signs.\u00a0In\u00a0other readings it can try to make things more difficult by\u00a0complicating their relations with history, anecdotes and codes common\u00a0use.\u00a0In other words, including the symbolic burden.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A\u00a0couple of years ago, going through immigration at Santiago de Chile\u00a0International Airport Santiago de Chile, I filled out the entry form\u00a0as usual: in the occupation blank I wrote \u00abcurator\u00bb.\u00a0I\u00a0forgot to add at the beginning the term: \u00abart.\u00bb\u00a0The\u00a0girl who received the piece of paper could not tolerate the intrigue\u00a0and asked me if I was some kind of \u201cimposition of hands\u00a0healer\u00bb&#8230; I smiled and replied that I had not yet arrived to do\u00a0that.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This\u00a0misunderstanding led me to wonder if perhaps this confusion did not\u00a0say anything about our profession.\u00a0Led me to think on the\u00a0possibility of establishing types for those who impart art clinics\u00a0and what would be their principal attributes,\u00a0because in these\u00a0clinics, names which we can apply are diverse and work in\u00a0combination.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here\u00a0I will only give some examples for the purpose of this article. These\u00a0are: shamans, jesuits and cynicals.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0shamans administer ritually the truth, an enlightened and\u00a0enlightening truth, which nobody knows where it comes from, but we\u00a0know that faith is knowing how to discard facts, or the lack of\u00a0them.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\">In <\/span><\/span>contrast, there are those who understand the art clinic execution as\u00a0an apostolate, which I called \u201cJesuitism\u00bb\u009d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0Jesuit missionary is simultaneously an intellectual and a rationalist\u00a0under reasonable control.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Perhaps,\u00a0as once joked, we are in front of the Universal Church of\u00a0Contemporary Art of Latter-days Saints.\u00a0If we follow this line\u00a0of thought, we could say that what we are witnessing in certain art\u00a0clinics is both a homily and a confession.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The jesuits, unlike\u00a0shamans, configure a discursive logic, which is pretended to be\u00a0reproducible; they build a system of thought, but on an indubitable\u00a0axiom: the value\u00b4s structure is already anticipated (either\u00a0from outside or above).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Last\u00a0-but not least- the cynic who has a sophist attitude towards\u00a0its object, claims ignorance towards the truth and seeks it in\u00a0particular cases (though perhaps this is only a gimmick).\u00a0This\u00a0fiction allows a non-dogmatic approach to the object because any\u00a0truth is arguable and therefore insignificant. The references must\u00a0then be established between each art work, they must be searched.\u00a0It\u00a0occurs to me that this can be like in the TV drama Dr. House, in\u00a0which a doctor and his team infringe ethical principles searching for\u00a0an imperative, urgent diagnosis.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\">The\u00a0cynic is in love with his study object. The value, which he seeks, is\u00a0supposed, he desires it there where he is looking.\u00a0The\u00a0relationship between subjects occurs between the love that connect\u00a0things together and the critical humor distance.\u00a0Lissete Lagnado\u00a0-in her 2006 Sao Paulo\u00b4s Biennial evaluation- declared:\u00a0Living together, but with the just distance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What these three\u00a0stereotypes -used to define some of the types of relationships\u00a0between <em><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\">clinician<\/span><\/em><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><em><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\">clinicees<\/span><\/em><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\">&#8211;<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"> have in common is that the clinic is defined as the space where what\u00a0is being questioned is the \u201cvalue of what is being\u00a0diagnosed\u00bb.\u00a0The \u00abin outlines\u00bb, the map imposition\u00a0over the field or the technical rigid criteria underestimate the\u00a0processes and products value, they force the analysis and discourage\u00a0artistic production and discourse experimentation.\u00a0To recognize\u00a0the others, we must determine their actions and mechanisms, see them\u00a0deploy in their production environment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"background: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These models proposed have very different implementations and implications\u00a0for clinicians.\u00a0This\u00a0will be discussed on the next article.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jorge Sep\u00falveda T.<br \/>\nIndependent\u00a0Curator<br \/>\nBuenos Aires &#8211; Salta, april 2009<\/p>\n<p>[like]<\/p>\n<p>Galer\u00eda de Im\u00e1genes \/ Image Gallery<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article was written in the context of\u00a0SPARRING TOUR 2009 [versi\u00f3n en espa\u00f1ol] Unlike\u00a0cartographic maps, mind ones act on field by metaphorizing its\u00a0objects.\u00a0Not only they nominate, set limits and establish\u00a0relative positions, but also -and more importantly- they give\u00a0significance to the point that they point.
